Wat Arun is often known by the simpler title of the Temple of Dawn. It is one of the most famous sites in Thailand and best known temples in Bangkok. Wat Arun is situated opposite to the Grand Palace across the Chao Phraya River. The temple catches and reflects the first light of the morning sun, creating an amazing sight that one can only appreciate at dawn. The palace, originally called Wang Suan Dusit or Dusit Garden Palace, became the primary but not official place of residence of the King of Thailand.
